The only negative thing that came out of it was now the whole import crowd is stuck with that image.

KEITH IMOTO MOVIE

So, in other words, why should either side of the debate take the movie seriously? There are nice cars within it (the Veilside RX-7) just like it's cool to watch "Hot Rods from Hell" and see the A on 32' rails with the Ardun flattie. And that's exactly what "The Fast and The Furious" is. It's the new millenium and B movies are still with us. The Deuces have been substituted by Civics, the acting hasn't improved, and the writers still don't know anything about cars. Now, this movie was about two rival gangs of teenage boys who routinely broke the law in their quest for speed and girls. I believe the release date was 1952, the early days of hit rodding where just about everything was a Deuce or a T. To all of the domestic hot rodders who can recall (or have read about) the 1950's, I'd like to draw attention to the film "Hot Rods from Hell". SO you have to have a legitimate jap sports car to street race.

One is doing a full buildup on a 95 HB, garret T3/T4 turbo, sleeved block, pistons, rods, headwork, etc, etc. Civics, most are slow, but I have a few aquaintences who have B16's and B18C's dropped into slightly stripped civcis running low-mid 14's, not bad. Why? Cause a decent f-body or mustang will cost 15k+ and insurance would be incredibly ridiculous for any male under the age of 25. I don't know about BC, but in Portland and down the valley in Oregon, theres barely any Domestics street racers. Just my two pennies, four dimes, three quarters, and a nickel But my point is that hollywood doesn't give two shits about any real street racing scene, they only care about making the $$$, and I can't say I blame them either, because obviously dumbasses out-number intelligent, down-to-earth people in this f'ed up world we live in.

You realize the producers of that movie are laughing all the way to the bank because a bunch of gullible and naive honda drivers go out and buy the movie and want to mimic hollywood's version of a street racing scene, not to mention the movie inspiring them to actually think that a bottle of "naSomeday these riceboys may be in the senate or even president! now thats a scary thought. Lets face it, what movies out there HAVEN'T been about making money? If they made a movie to appeal to the ricer street crowd and made bajillions of dollars off them, then they reached their goal, nothing wrong with that. My two cents, let the "hatin on" commence. You expect people to respect imports, but you make comments like that! Talk about hypocrisy. Well, they could have had a movie about musclecars instead, but no one would want to watch a movie with a bunch of rusted out old cars being towed or being hauled on a flatbed across the finish line. The only legitimate Japanese sports cars(aside from Nissan Silvias) are too expensive to race! This is the painful part for ricers though, street racers mostly race domestics. I do not hate imports, there are plenty of imports I love, more so than domestics. Street racers drive Mustangs, Camaros, 350 Malibus, Cutlass's, and occasionally a Supra or FC turbo 2! The reason, because street racers don't "have a 100k under the hood man!", they have maybe a couple of thousand invested in the car in total! Now I know this is going to get a bad response, but street racers do not race honda civics and RX7 FDS, because civics are slow, and FDs are expensive and rare. I hate to break this to you, but the fast and the furious wasn't about street racing, it was about making money off of ricers.
